Do I need flamenco shoes?
EventualIy, yes. If you are fortunate enough to own a pair of flamenco shoes, that’s fantastic! However, if you don’t, we have a few suggestions to get you started.→→→
What should I wear to class?
Flamenco is a traditional dance form. So, as you begin your flamenco journey there are some practical reasons for what is expected in dance attire. Flamenco “practice” clothing is a whole experience in itself, fun, colorful, and amazing. →→→
Dress Code | Hair Men & Women
Hair should be tied up and pulled away from your face.
I don’t have flamenco shoes. Does that mean I can’t participate in class?
For now wear what you have in your closet. BUT! Make sure your shoes have a sturdy heel with a minimum heel height of 1.5″ and no higher than 2.5”. Flamenco Clothing | Women
Skirt: Flamenco dance involves learning to use your skirt. For best experience, wear a full ankle length skirt with a flair. Pants are ok to begin with but eventually, for practical purposes you will need a skirt.
You can easily buy a practice (or rehearsal) skirt online. It’s relatively inexpensive and come in ready-to-wear sizes. See Where to Buy.
Tops: Comfortable leotard or athletic/movement friendly top, but please, no T-shirts.
Dress Code | Jewelry
Dangly jewelry should be avoided.
Can’t I wear just any shoe?
No. Your safety is important to us. The following shoe types are not permitted:. Sandals, open-toed shoes, stilettos, platforms, or wedge heels. Shoe with rubber soles or sneakers. If you’re uncertain about your shoe type contact your instructor for assistance.
Flamenco Clothing | Men
Shirts: As a traditional dance form, it is customary for men to wear relatively fitted shirt. please, no T-shirts.
Pants: There is a good amount of athletic moves associated with dance. For best experience, pants should be comfortable and movement friendly. You can easily buy flamenco pants (pantalones flamenco) online. See Where to Buy
Class Policy | NO Chewing Gum!
This presents a health hazard and liability, and a mess, if it gets stuck on the floor or carpet. (!) No chewing gum will be allowed past the studio doors. Thank you!

Flamenco dance involves learning to use your skirt. In class, we use a "practice skirt." Practice skirts are inexpensive, come in ready-to-wear sizes, and can be easily bought online. TOPS: Comfortable leotard. No T-shirts please.
Men:
